CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Equipping your staff with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver a high quality food and nutrition curriculum in your school.
The Government includes food and nutrition under the umbrella of Design and Technology, which lets face it, is incredibly difficult to teach in schools without specialist staff. All schools want to give their students the absolute best start in life but aren't always able to because the support hasn't always been there or been that easy to access.
That's where we hope to 'fulfil a need', The need to train staff on the principles of food and offer effective, tested teaching methods to do so.
The Government outlines the requirements below (taken directly from www.gov.uk/government/publications/national-curriculum-in-england-design-and-technology-programmes-of-study/national-curriculum-in-england-design-and-technology-programmes-of-study if you want to access the full curriculum)...

Cooking and nutrition
As part of their work with food, pupils should be taught how to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. Instilling a love of cooking in pupils will also open a door to one of the great expressions of human creativity. Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.
Pupils should be taught to:
Key stage 1
use the basic principles of a healthy and varied diet to prepare dishes
understand where food comes from
Key stage 2
understand and apply the principles of a healthy and varied diet
prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes using a range of cooking techniques
understand seasonality, and know where and how a variety of ingredients are grown, reared, caught and processed

Lucky really as their aims align nicely with ours...

Our aims:
Inform children about good food choices by teaching them about the different food groups and how these food groups are used in our bodies.
Inspire children to try new foods and replace less healthy options with good nutritious alternatives.
Instruct children in the preparation of a range of snacks and meals which they can make themselves.

Working closely with your school based team, CPD sessions are tailored to give staff the knowledge required along with the skills needed to deliver high quality teaching.
